Hawaii Tokai International College
UH West Oʻahu Chancellor Rockne Freitas and Hawaii Tokai International College Chancellor Kiyoshi Yamada
sign a memorandum of understanding at UH West Oʻahu on Friday, Jan. 9.
UH West Oʻahu signed an agreement with Hawaii Tokai International College establishing an academic partnership between the two universities. The agreement is the first of its kind in the nation between a public university and a U.S. accredited international junior college with physical campuses next to each other.
HTIC is a junior college and HTIC hopes to develop a degree pathway program (2+2) with UHWO ACM. This would be a similar program to the ones we have placed in our UH community college campuses and via cross registration a smooth transition is expected to take place.
Jeonghwa Arts College, Seoul, Korea
An accredited college focusing on cosmetology, communication, media, performance arts, hospitality management and social welfare with 2,000 students. Academy for Creative Media System Founder and Director Chris Lee, UH West Oʻahu Director of International Relations and Programs Tim Park, Jeongwha Arts College Chairman and President Kim Kee Young and students from Jeongwha Arts College in Seoul, Korea.
Jeongwha’s vision is to help their students to become globally competitive. Jeongwha plans to encourage their graduates to enter UHWO and achieve advanced degrees in UHWO ACM. Jeongwha also has a strong interest in developing internship programs in Hawaii with UHWO ACM.
Tongmyong University, Busan, Korea
A university with seven colleges including information technology, business, design, architecture, digital entertainment and social welfare with 25,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. Academy for Creative Media System Founder and Director Chris Lee, UH West Oʻahu, Director of International Relations and Programs Tim Park, and officials from Tongmyong University in Busan, Korea sign a memorandum of agreement establishing an academic partnership.
Tongmyong University has sent 20 students under the customized contract training program in 2015. In 2016 Tongmyong plans to send 30 students to UHWO including one semester exchange students. Many of Tongmyong’s exchange students has shown their interest to take courses in ACM.
