Student Production Technician – Part-time

Are you a college student that is interested in learning television production?  We have a part-time position for a motivated, and committed individual. Hours vary weekly between 4–19 hours, depending on our production schedule. Availability for a weekly Thursday evening LIVE production (5p -10p) is a must. Also, Friday, all day for pre-recorded productions (8am- 5pm) is preferred. Some availability during the week, on weekends, and evenings are a plus. No experience necessary, just a commitment to learning.    Minimum wage to start.  This position reports directly to the Production Manager, but will work under the leadership of any senior staff member assigned to the production or project.   We are an equal opportunity employer.

Student HIKI NŌ Editor – Part-time

Are you a college student that is interested in receiving on-the-job training as an editor at a broadcast TV station? We have a part-time position for a motivated, committed, up-and-coming editor to help out with the weekly editing tasks for PBS Hawai`i’s HIKI NŌ: Hawai`i’s New Wave of Storytellers program, as well as the show’s social media and online content. Previous experience editing in Adobe Premiere is required.  Experience in formatting and uploading content to YouTube and social media platforms is also required.  We are looking for someone who can commit to as close to 19 hours a week as possible. Students entering their freshman or sophomore year of college are preferred.  This position reports directly to the Vice President of Learning Initiatives, but will also work under the leadership of the HIKI NŌ Co-Producer/Online Editor.  We are an equal opportunity employer.

Student Engineer – Part-time

PBS Hawaii is looking for a motivated college student interested in the engineering workings of a broadcast television station and building their resume with great skills.  This position will allow you to learn about audio/video distribution, a/v routing, signal monitoring, networking infrastructure, engineering support for production, microwave transmission, and television transmitters.   Advanced skills and knowledge not-required other than what you’ve already learned in college.  Up to 19 hours per week.   Reports directly to the Chief Engineer.
