Marc moved to Los Angeles after graduating from the University of Arkansas, where his screenplay A Song for the Night climbed through the story department at ABC Motion Pictures. ABC helped Marc obtain representation from agent Steve White who was known for taking on young screenwriters, developing their talent for the craft.

Under White, Marc was requested to write a spec script for the television series FAME and requested by writer/director Robert Towne (Chinatown) for possible writer to a modern remake of West Side Story at Paramount Pictures.

Returning to school, Marc obtained his MA in Screenwriting at Ohio University’s School of Media Arts and his MFA in Film production at Ohio University’s School of Film.

His thesis film, Victor, The Wild Child of Averyon – The Musical! which won the prestigious Hollis Parry Fine Arts award in 1999, a $5000 dollar prize. In 2006 he won many awards for his feature film Almost Normal that he wrote and directed, and is distributed by Seventh Art Releasing, aired on MTV’s Logo Channel, and has obtained international distribution in over 6 countries and was the recipient of the Phred Love – Best Filmmaker in Hawaii.

In 2010 & 2011 he was a twice Semi Finalist at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Nicholl Fellowship, the premiere international screenwriting competition, which his screenplay Land of Lincoln placed in the top 30 selected from 6,700 national and international submissions.

Other international screenwriting awards Marc has won include Finalist (Bronze Award) at the 2018 Beverly Hills Screenwriting Contest, Grand Prize and Honorable Mention for two of his screenplays at the 2016 Silver Tuna Screenplay Competition, Best Drama Feature Screenplay at the 2016 Richmond International Film Festival for his screenplay Union. His screenplay Rumspringa, won Best Feature Screenplay, a major juried award at the University Film and Video Association in 2015.

Marc has studied screenwriting under Lew Hunter, Professor Emeritus of Screenwriting (UCLA), the late William Miller at Ohio University, and the late author James Leo Herlihy (Midnight Cowboy).

He was voted by the student Ka Leo newspaper as one the best Professors at UH Mānoa in the Best at UH edition.
