Le Fetuao Samoan Language Center was recently awarded a grant by the Hawai’i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts for production of our own Samoan Youth Television Show. Our goals for this program are for our youth to document and share the Samoan cultural and language lessons of our elders with our community.
We are currently seeking five college students with backgrounds or interests in media to assist with production. Participating interns will receive training and certification from ‘Ōlelo Community Media. Once certified, students will become ‘Ōlelo Media Members, granting them access to the production facilities, resources, and equipment they are trained to use. Our grant for this project also provides a $600 stipend per intern. Stipends will be paid in three installments. Payments will be made to interns making good progress, as noted by the Project Coordinator.
Intern responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Assist Project Director in coordination and implementation of taping dates, editing, and community events
-Attend bi-weekly meetings with Le Fetuao students and staff for the development of program content
-Program advertisement via flyers, social media, Olelo promo, etc.
-Current Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior in college
-Experience with media, film, or television production AND/OR college courses in media/communications
-Available for at least a one year commitment (Project end date June 2020)
