Darren Carlson is an Assistant Professor of Computer Engineering in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. He also serves as an Assistant Professor in the UH Academy for Creative Media (ACM). His research interests include Cyber-physical Systems; Ubiquitous Computing; Internet of Things; Adaptive Edge Computing; Physical User Experience Design; and Interactive Digital Media Systems. Dr. Carlson founded and currently leads the Ambient Computing Group, which develops next-generation frameworks and algorithms for the emerging Internet of Things and Web of Things. The Ambient Computing Group has established an award-winning research track that emphasizes practical outcomes and open collaboration with international partner organizations and open source communities.
